Unlock Your Career Potential

Where Passion Meets Profession

Why Do You Need Better Communication Skills?

Why Do You Need Better Communication Skills?

Why do you need better communication skills. What are the advantages. I mean, heck, you’ve been communicating all your life and you’re doing alright…Right?

Now!!

What I’d invite you to do is to stop for just a moment and look at the world around you. It’s changing and you will be unable to change with it unless you stay up to date with all of your skills. You know this anyway.

Fact:

Employers now demand high levels of communication skills. Both written and oral. They don’t want somebody who can’t make their clients and customers feel at ease and welcome. You can have the best technical smarts in the world but if you can’t get on with the team then you’re hosed.

There is a reason for this and it’s over there in Asia. They have smart people too and the difference is they’ll work all day for two bucks an hour…And they do work all day… for just two measly dollars an hour

On an economic, dollars and cents value basis you can’t compete with that. I’m kinda guessing that you not only wouldn’t work for two bucks an hour… But that you couldn’t. You would go BROKE in a week.

Given that all of the lower paid jobs in the West are now being outsourced to Asia and India what’s left for you? That’s right. The stuff that’s at the top of the pile. But first you have to get the right communication skills. Not so that you can talk in some fancy pants way,

That’s not the reason at all.

it’s so you can make the relationships that you’re going to need to get there. If you haven’t read the book “How to Win Friends and Influence People ” by Dale Carnegie then please do it. It’s a book about communication and it has been a best seller since it was first published.

The answer is being more acceptable than some guy with a fake Texas accent based in Bangalore. The answer is being able to create the relationships that you will need if you ‘re going to be successful, regardless of any outsourced labor. Remember there are people where you are right now who are also reading this.

The fact is that most people prefer to do business with someone that they know and like and trust. They prefer to do so business and buy their groceries from someone who’s a friend or a neighbor. Research has proved this. Heck, would you buy a used car from someone you don’t know.

Now don’t get me wrong here. I spent years living in Asia and the people are nice. They work darn hard and pretty much most of them are honest. No more and no less than in the West. In fact given the severity of the prison system there, most are really honest. You don’t want to do even a day in the Bangkok Hilton. ( That’s what they call the jail in Bangkok Thailand )

The point is this. You may recall that I talked earlier on about the guy in Bangalore with the accent. Where did he learn that and who taught him. You’re right… it was the guys that outsourced to India in the first place.

You need better communication skills. Because if you don’t get them, then they surely will. Personally I don’t want to be competing with someone who’ll work all day for less than the price of half a cup of a double latte from Starbucks…

And that is why you need to be able to make great friendships. Strong alliances and create your own bench of people who are going to support you. In the modern world the rule is the same as it has always been. It’s who you know and what they think of you. The only way you can win them as friends and influence them as people is through your communication skills.

That’s why I got better equipped to sell myself in the market place.

I decided to work smarter and get the skills for a better career, a better business and a better life. And the bonus is that there’s less hassle and conflict.

I hate to be the one telling you this But it’s time to wake up and smell the coffee…while you can still afford it that is…
